Hello! You probably know me as REGINA ECHAVEZ. I am a Filipino-Canadian Events Photographer based in Shizuoka, Japan. I still go by the nickname "G". I moved to Shizuoka, Japan before the COVID-19 pandemic peaked. Getting stuck in Japan is not so bad after all. When I was younger, I loved all things from Japan. So this is a dream to me.
I got married to my husband in 2018 which is why my surname is different now. It's interesting because our talents go hand-in-hand. He is a DJ and we used to work together for 7 years.
I grew up in two different places - Toronto, Canada and Manila, Philippines. I took up Multimedia Arts at De La Salle - College of St. Benilde in 2009. I was always so drawn to photography because my mother loved taking my photos in film throughout my lifetime. Growing up, I would always see her take pictures. She eventually bought me my first two digital cameras, my father also gave me my first DSLR camera so I stopped playing basketball because of that. Basketball was my first love. I never knew I'd still be "shooting" until now. Only without a basketball but a camera in my hand.. I have always had a passion for Photography since I was a little girl. I never stopped taking photos since then.
I am proudly known as The Palace Manila’s Former Resident Photographer (#1 Nightlife Destination in the Philippines). Best known for my signature colorful candid pictures. As well as G2 Shizuoka (Shizuoka's Largest Nightclub).
Why Events Photography? I have always been drawn to people. I just love to socialize with people whether I just met them or have known them for a long time. When people make events, they plan to the littlest detail and it also makes people want to go see. I guess it's the curiosity in me. I get so excited every time there's a new DJ in town. And I love the different types of music that they play. And whenever I'm there.. It's like a playground to me. I forgot to mention that I love listening to music. So the nightlife suits me well. :)
